Using Facebook as a Comparative Distribution Advantage … Are you doing it?

June 26th, 2007 · No Comments

As a technology nerd, I try to keep up with the trends in business so that I can anticipate where new business opportunities or just generally interesting stuff might pop up.

One trend I’ve been following lately is the proliferation of “platform” APIs for social networks like Facebook. Facebook is a site to reconnect with friends, meet new people, and generally waste time telling people what you’re doing. But it’s a fantastic model for quickly distributing a new idea or service.

Here’s an article about the Seattle firm iLike and the traffic spike it got from Facebook.

I’m wondering if you or your firms are considering using this service to promote a new product or service, and what opportunities or challenges you see it providing?
