For someone who remembers paying $2000 for an Apple Macintosh SE, the concept of a $100 laptop is positively mind-boggling. Ok, I suppose in basic form it’s not that different than the mini-computers many of us use to make cellular phone calls, but it’s still impressive nonetheless.
My friend Ethan Zuckerman writes about the current state of the $100 laptop. It sounds like the device is fairly close to production, and I’d love to have one or two around the house for various purposes.
